Concluding Opinion
Note: This is the writer's own opinion, and not to be taken as fact in anyway.
Resolved? My personal opinion on the resolution of the Head Tax is that the redress was not enough, and that the government should also give redress to the descendants of the Head Tax payers. This is because the children of the Head Tax payers were also affected by the Head Tax, and therefore, it is not fair that only the surviving Head Tax payers or the wives of deceased Head Tax payers are given financial redress. Many of the Head Tax payers' children grew up without a father, or suffered from financial problems during their lifetime due to the Head Tax.
There is also the fact that part of the five million dollars originally supposed to go towards the Community Historical Recognition Program for the Chinese Canadians were taken back into government funds. More specifically, 500,000 dollars, or half a million. This is unfair, because the money was supposed to be for the Chinese Canadian community to better educate the younger generation about the injustices suffered in the past.

Prevention of Future Social Problems Some of the options that the government could do to prevent similar social problems from happening is to provide the country with a knowledge of past wrongs, in order for us to learn from the past, and not repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Another solution is to make a legislation where no person is to be unfairly treated and discriminated against because of their race, gender or religion. This would prevent anyone from attempting to reinstitute the Head Tax.
